Built on Microsoft’s sales experience—not a replacement

Why add the Sales Extension Suite?

Use Microsoft’s Sales plugin for its built-in capabilities. Add this suite when your team wants a consistent brief, follow-through, and handoff format.

The difference is a packaged way of working you can rehearse and review—not a claim that Microsoft cannot do the same tasks.

First, which Sales experience?

Sales agent helps with repeatable sales work and contextual actions across experiences such as Outlook, Teams, and Dynamics 365 Sales.

The Sales plugin in Cowork supports longer, multi-step work using approved sales data and Microsoft 365 context. Microsoft also offers Sales for Cowork for CRM-agnostic sales work. Availability, licensing, and billing depend on the experience.

Sales Extension Suite for Copilot is Bill Whalen’s independent preview. The Cowork path has two plugins; the Copilot Studio agent path is deferred. It does not replace Microsoft’s products or include their licenses, tools, or connections.

Where the work overlaps—and what we package

Do not install this just to get meeting preparation or deal analysis: those already exist in Microsoft’s sales experiences.

Task-level comparison, not a feature-exclusivity claim
Your taskMicrosoft’s documented starting pointSuite’s reusable pattern
Understand an account or dealDeal health, engagement strategy, stakeholder context, and evidence-backed recommendations.A brief with a bottom line, source dates, gaps, and next action; confirm an ambiguous record before deeper review.
Turn a meeting into actionSales agent meeting preparation and conversation summaries; Cowork can coordinate multi-step tasks.Separate agreed actions, proposed work, dependencies, and approval gates; rehearse with supplied fictional notes.
Review and coach pipelineCowork already supports open-pipeline risk analysis and sales strategy.A repeatable coaching request that distinguishes missing evidence from deal risk and keeps source support per opportunity.
Bring in a teammateCowork already supports coordination and iterative work.A bounded handoff: receiving role, minimum context, specific request, prerequisite, and acceptance criteria.

Comparable results may be possible with built-in capabilities or your own instructions. This suite packages the patterns; it has not demonstrated superior outcomes in a head-to-head test.

What a working day could look like

Before the call · AE

Request the account brief. Review what is known and what is missing; choose the customer decision to clarify next.

Take away: a concise brief and questions, not a new account-health score.

After the call · account team

Turn approved notes into a recap. Keep the promised date, leave unagreed dates open, and show work waiting on a prerequisite.

Take away: a draft action plan for review, not sent messages or changed CRM.

Next step · SE and sales leader

Propose a receiving SE role and a precise question. Coach on the evidence needed; keep ownership proposed until accepted.

Take away: a reviewable handoff with a finish line, not an assigned task.

What you actually install

Seller Workflows: meeting preparation, follow-up, daily priorities, pipeline review, and coaching.

Account & Deals: Account Intelligence briefs, opportunity review, relevant authorized service context, and account-team handoffs.

They guide Cowork; they do not run a separate model or unlock data. Live tasks still require approved tools and permissions. The fictional website examples are predefined, not live agent runs.

Notes-only rehearsal does not require the Sales plugin. For live Dynamics 365 work, use the supported Microsoft setup and validate the exact tool path. Installing these ZIPs does not prove interoperability with every standard plugin or tenant.

Choose the smallest useful next step

  • Built-in Sales already meets your need? Keep using it. There is no requirement to install this suite.
  • Want a shared team format? Try a fictional example, then install the two plugins in an approved pilot.
  • Need live CRM evidence? Validate identity, sources, citations, denied access, and rollback before expansion.

Local packaging and browser checks passed. Exact-version host qualification, participant access, customer fit, and measured time savings remain unproven. Natural-language boundaries are not security enforcement.
